These posts will document my PPG (Powered ParaGliding) journey. I will post up on each step I take. All my research, purchases, training, and experiences! If you are interested or thought about pursuing the hobby of PPG – follow along. May have to back track a bit to catch up – so here we go.

But first, what is PPG? I will let Wikipedia explain: “Powered paragliding, also known as paramotoring or PPG, is a form of ultralight aviation where the pilot wears a back-pack motor (a paramotor) which provides enough thrust to take off using a paraglider. It can be launched in still air, and on level ground, by the pilot alone—no assistance is required.”

So, a couple years ago or so, I got interested in PPG. Mainly watched videos along with a little reading on the subject. Always thought “hey – that would be cool” and that was about it. Even had doubts on whether I could really go from nothing to a PPG rated pilot. My main concerns were: Am I too old? Is it safe? Where would I train? Where could I fly? Is it affordable?

After a year or so the idea of flying below a wing never faded and stuck around in the back of my mind. Then 2026 happened. It all started with a post on Facebook advertising a PPG Fly-In! And the best part, it was only 30 miles away! After attending the Fly-In, I knew I was hooked. And so my journey began.
